Кафедра залізобетонних та кам’яних конструкцій має потужні здобутки в наукових дослідженнях у галузі будівництва і підготовки наукових кадрів. Свого часу на кафедрі навчалися, працювали, проводили наукові дослідження відомі вчені, доктори технічних наук. У створеній М. В. Савицьким потужній науковій школі виконуються наукові дослідження за такими пріоритетними напрямами: нові методи розрахунку будівельних конструкцій; нові будівельні матеріали з високими технічними й економічними характеристиками; раціональне проектування будівельних конструкцій, конструктивних систем будівель і споруд нового покоління з високими техніко-економічними показниками; основи розрахунку надійності і прогнозу довговічності залізобетонних конструкцій в агресивних середовищах; оптимальне проектування теплового захисту житлових та громадських будинків; методологія раціонального проектування житлових будинків з урахуванням їх життєвого циклу за критерієм мінімуму сукупних витрат; кількісна методика діагностики та оцінювання технічного стану залізобетонних конструкцій; методологія проектування ремонтних систем залізобетонних конструкцій. В статті наведено короткі результати наукових досліджень, а також описано перспективні дослідження, які виконуються на кафедрі залізобетонних і кам’яних конструкцій сьогодні.
